There’s one horse I’m keeping an eye on today and it’s one I’m not even bothered if it loses.

The horse I want to see run today is TAHMURAS (Paul Nicholls), who runs in the 1.50 Haydock.
When last seen he was staying on strongly to finish second in a Grade 2 novice chase at Kempton on soft ground, giving the strong impression to me that he could stay 3m. He goes well on soft ground, with three wins and a place from five runs on the surface, so should have a couple of decent winter wins in him. More importantly, he’s rated just 144 and I can see him being a 155+ horse in time, which in my eyes means he’s a well handicapped horse.
He might win today, but ideally he runs well, gets tired in the closing stages and finishes second, then heads to the December Gold Cup at Cheltenham, in which he should take a plenty of beating.
